BAC EXTENDS EXECUTIVE BOARD FOR NEW 5-YEAR TERM
Last week, the IUBAC held our virtual 2020 International Union Convention. On behalf of BAC Local 2 MI, I would like to congratulate the IUBAC's Executive Board on their election as follows:
- Tim Driscoll - President
- Bob Arnold - Secretary - Treasurer
- Carlos Aquin - Executive Vice President
- Jerry Sullivan, Jr. - Executive Vice President
There is no doubt in my mind that Tim Driscoll is the right person, along with the rest of the IU Executive Board, to lead this International Union into the future! It is with pride that we recognize that the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers is the oldest, continuously operating Building Trade Union in North America.
The membership of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local 2 MI had voted to determine the number of Delegates that our Union will send to the 2020 International Union Convention on September 28, 2020 in Chicago.
As it turned out, the IUBAC 2020 Convention was held online on September 28 and 29. I want to thank the membership for voting to have Local 2's Management Committee, myself, Paul Dunford - Secretary Treasurer and James Brylowski - Vice Chairman represent BAC Local 2 MI at this online convention. It was an honor to represent the members of BAC local 2 MI as a delegate to this convention.
Other news included that, as President of Local 2, MI, I was re-elected as a Regional Vice President of the BAC's Executive Council, the Union's highest advisory body. I was also pleased that IUBAC President Tim Driscoll had recently appointed Paul Dunford as the Cement Masons Craft Vice President on the BAC Executive Council. Paul was also re-appointed by the delegates of the IUBAC 2020 Convention during the convention. The Executive Council meets twice a year to consider issues affecting the Union, the organized trowel trades industry, and the well-being of members in both nations. Our last meeting was held virtually online on September 25, 2020.
We look forward to the future with all the posibilities and work opportunities that await our members!
In Solidarity,
Chuck Kukawka
President
